I don’t remember a time that I didn’t enjoy taking pictures. Even as a young child I would hold photoshoots with my friends. This was back in the day of 35mm film where 1 hour photo labs were the big thing. All you had to do was drop off your film, go grocery shopping with your mom and wa-la you had your pictures back.
I took my first photography class in high school and from day one I was hooked. When I left for college it never crossed my mind to actually do anything with photography. I didn’t think of it as a career, it was just a hobby. I had other plans, I would get my business degree, move to Colorado, marry a cowboy and run a dude ranch.
I graduated with a degree in Marketing and moved to Colorado to start my new life. But then I fell in love, which brought me straight back to Indiana; not the horse ranch I had envisioned. All the while I continued to take pictures for fun. I was heading down a path I’d never considered before.
Friends began asking me to take their wedding photos. One event led to another and another. This is when I new what I wanted to do with my life. Today I am a stay at home mom who loves taking pictures. I feel like the luckiest person around; every day I get to watch and smile as my kids learn new things – all while pursuing my love of photography.
With every portrait session and wedding, I take the time to capture shots that are memorable and lasting. I want you to feel confident that I have done my best to capture your child’s true personality or created lasting memories of your special day.
When I am not taking pictures or homeschooling my kids, I am hiking, camping, running, working in my vegetable garden, vacationing (what I do best) or watching my kids sports games. Was this what I had imagined way back in high school? Nope! But, I wouldn’t change a minute of this life experience.
